3. Laboratory testing
When choosing kratom, laboratory testing is one of the most important indicators of quality and safety. Each batch undergoes careful inspection, which includes testing for heavy metals, pesticides, microorganisms and other potentially hazardous substances. At the same time, the content of mitragynine, the main alkaloid, is also tested.

4. Content of effective alkaloids
The efficacy of kratom is closely associated with the content of its main alkaloids. Every retailer should state the alkaloid values measured, but there are still many retailers on the market who do not state the alkaloid content because they do not have laboratory tests available. Some have laboratory tests, but they may not always be credible. For example, tests from laboratories in the US, such as Murray Brown, are often used, reporting mitragynine levels 0.2–0.4% higher than the actual value. This is because they include the alkaloid paynantheine in the mitragynine value and its content is usually in this range. However, this method distorts the results and does not provide accurate information about the kratom.

5. Safe kratom processing
Kratom processing begins with the harvest. Ripe leaves are collected after 50–60 days of growth, as only ripe leaves contain high levels of alkaloids. Manual harvesting ensures that only healthy and undamaged leaves are carefully selected. At other retailers, the leaves are often harvested after 30 days to increase the amount harvested and lower the price. However, such a procedure significantly reduces the content of effective alkaloids and this is reflected in the quality of the final product.
6. Correct procedure for fermenting red kratom
Many lower-quality suppliers and retailers use fermentation in plastic bags exposed to the sun to process red kratom. Such method carries a risk of contamination with microplastics, which are released from plastics due to high temperatures.
At Kratomuj, we never use this procedure, fermentation is carried out using a special method, the leaves are first exposed to steam in a wooden basket above a container with water. They are then dried in the sun for 5–10 hours, giving them their characteristic colour and correct distribution of alkaloids.
