Mitragyna speciosa

Mitragyna speciosa is the Latin name for kratom, a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Its leaves contain two main alkaloids—mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. Mitragynine is primarily responsible for the stimulating and relaxing effects, while 7-hydroxymitragynine has significant analgesic properties that contribute to pain relief. The tree grows up to 20 meters tall and has glossy, dark green, oval leaves.
